“The Plantation company that handles Broward and Miami-Dade’s online foreclosure auctions and Palm Beach County‘s tax lien sales declared bankruptcy after it was ordered to put up a $4.3 million bond to fight a $8.1 million jury award to its archrival for software patent infringement.
On Friday, a U.S. bankruptcy judge in Fort Lauderdale allowed Realauction.com, which has headquarters at 861 SW 78th Ave. in Plantation, to continue its spending this month while it pursues its bankruptcy case.
Realauction.com executives told Broward Clerk of Courts Howard C. Forman that they need to file bankruptcy to give them time to collect the $4.3 million in cash to post bond and appeal the multimillion-dollar verdict.”
